Welcome to the Cats At Riverside Shelter Website

Cats Protection is Britain's oldest charity concerned solely with cats. It was established in 1927 and has 13 HQ Shelters, 15 Branch shelters and 250 voluntary branches run by a devoted army of volunteers.
Riverside Adoption Shelter is the main HQ shelter for East Anglia. The shelter has been at this site since the early 1990's and during that time many improvements have been made. We now have 100 pens and the seven full time and four part time staff typically look after 160 cats and kittens at any one time. There is certainly plenty to do!
Preparation for rehoming is considerable. Upon entering the shelter every cat is wormed and defleaed and given a general health check. Adults are neutered, and all cats and kittens are vaccinated and micro chipped. There is feeding and cleaning, washing beds and grooming.
