Description
The work of Chosen Children International is currently focused on the children of Kenya, East Africa.With a population of more than 30 million people, an estimated 500,000 plus homeless children live on the streets of every town and city in Kenya. These children struggle to survive as defenseless victims of brutal violence, sexual exploitation, neglect, disease, chemical addiction and human rights violations.
Currently, CCI is operating a rehabilitation center for the street children. At this Center the children are given a chance to attend classes at our informal school. There is no free education in Kenya, and therefore due to poverty, many of these children have never attended school before. At the Center the children are given a hot nutritious meal which they eagerly help prepare. They are also given an agricultural education.
In addition to education the children receive counseling at our center. One of our goals is to form a bridge so that the children can be reunited with their families. Home visits are made in order to develop relationships with the children’s relatives.
