There is nothing like dated, documented proof of God’s existence in your life. Tracing the movement of God encourages faith and gives us something concrete we can refer back to in times of distress and offers something we can pass on to our children and others in need. Dated, documented movement is exactly what Claire Tingen needed when she set out to give her life and her will over to God. After years of bad choices, Claire had found herself in a twelve step recovery program with an immense desire for a changed life. When faced with Step Three, which is to "turn your life and your will over to God", Claire was encouraged to take an old shoe box, write God’s name on it and start releasing things in her life which had become too big for her to handle on her own. Upon revisiting her "God box" every few days and unfolding the slips of prayer, Claire realized God was moving in each area. This movement kept her going one day at a time. Claire now has fourteen years of recovery, not to mention hundreds of slips of paper and keepsakes all pointing to the movement of God. Ten years into recovery, Claire had become an award-winning graphic designer. She and her husband opened a small retail gift store in Bellevue, Washington and felt led by God to manufacture and sell wooden boxes called The God Box. The two of them, along with a group of close friends designed a box and had them made in India. Each box lid was adorned with the words The God Box on a silver plaque. Claire wrote her story of hope which was included with each box. Every box placed on the shelf sold. Some people had needs of their own; some had friends and family with needs. Some boxes were purchased for joyful occasions, such as baby showers and wedding gifts. Soon stores from all over the country were calling wanting to carry The God Box. People were contacting Claire to tell of their own story and to thank her for creating such a special gift. People were experiencing God’s movement in all different ways and lives were changed. The God Box is currently sold across the Country. There are stories of hope being told and recorded for generations to read. What was once a simple shoebox filled with shameful prayers, has become a place of hope that hundreds are experiencing. God has truly taken what was once despair and has made it Claire’s destiny. Today, Claire’s purpose has gone from manufacturing and distributing boxes to teaching people through seminars and workshops how recording the movement of God can change their lives and give them hope. She concentrates on teaching people that nothing in their life is too awful or shameful to be used for God’s great purposes.
