Ceilidh Culture

Ceilidh Culture is a profile-raising marketing campaign for the city’s traditional arts community, building on the legacy of the Edinburgh Folk Festival. It aims to provide a wide, community-based focus. Its emphasis is on including all the traditional arts activity taking place in the city, not just traditional music.

Over 30 of the many different organisations involved in traditional arts activity throughout the city – from small voluntary groups right up to large concert venues and commercial promoters. The campaign itself is run by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Arts Development Unit, in partnership with the participating organisations and promoters.

By raising the collective profile of the city’s traditional arts providers, large and small, we aim to increase access to the traditional arts by all sectors of the community, from Edinburgh and beyond. This style of programme also gives smaller organisations access to a high quality publicity campaign they could not normally afford.
