Back in 1993, I had the opportunity to visit a local boat dealer. They had a pontoon boat taken apart for a new deck and carpet. Being the nosey type, I asked how much money they got to re-deck boats. When they told me, my chin hit the floor. After I left the dealership, I began thinking I could do the same thing for a whole lot less and still make money. I researched suppliers of wood and carpet and determined I could offer boat owners a less expensive alternative to boat dealers. Being conveniently located in Central Florida, I have worked on hundreds of boats throughout Florida. Since many pontoon boat owners do not have trailers, I perform these services on location in most cases....Even in the water!
Since beginning the business in early 1994, I've grown to do more pontoon boats in Florida than all the other companies combined. That's all I do! Over the past 5 years, I've averaged around 50 decks per year. I still do boats in the water in some cases. The cases I don't are if the water is too deep or there are big alligators or snakes watching. I don't like either. The other thing is if there is not enough clearance between the house to get my equipment close to the boat. Trying equipment and supplies great distances isn't much fun anymore. I'm not getting any younger.
