- I. Gary Spolar, founded Century Chimney Inc. in 1988. I was a computer science major at Cleveland State University working my way through college as a chimney sweep and as a mason. I soon realized that there was a great need for this service, and took the business full time shortly after becoming a sweep. I have been working full time as a chimney professional for over 14 years, and have taken many classes to educate myself on chimney related subjects.
