The Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro is the center for philanthropy in the Greater Greensboro area through its relationships with fundholders, nonprofits, foundations, governments and communities. Established through the vision of Cynthia Doyle, Thornton Brooks and W. Roger Soles and the commitment of a number of community leaders, we have been instrumental in creating significant impact in greater Greensboro. We have collaborated with thousands of people to improve the quality of life for all of Greensboro’s residents, and to fulfill the important tenets of our mission.

Greensboro is a shining example of a community that has and continues to benefit from the role of philanthropy. We have a rich heritage of giving that is represented by the more than 500 charitable funds managed by the Community Foundation. Thousands of individuals combine to make Greensboro one of the most generous communities in the nation as ranked by the Chronicle of Philanthropy, and the Community Foundation is proud to support the generosity of our community members.

In 2004, the Community Foundation helped more people create a legacy of giving than ever before. We received over $16 million in contributions, increasing our assets to $85 million. And we granted out over $8 million to hundreds of charitable organizations. Our Board of Directors and staff are passionate about our mission, committed to our community and focused on our results. It is exciting to see all that is happening around us and even more to know that our philanthropy continues to be at the cornerstone of everything that we do. There are so many ways that everyone can play a role in giving back to this community.
