Description
The Company's Birth Certificate was completed in 1954, when the Chemical Works Borzesti were set-up in order to process the rich salt resources from Targu Ocna (15 km nearby) on Trotus Valey (Geographical Position). Very soon, the Chemical Works Borzesti became an important industrial unit from the Industrial Platform Borzesti, where not very much longer the Synthetic Rubbers and Petrochemicals Works Onesti and the Oil Refinery Onesti were set up, too. This industrial assembly was further completed by the Electrotermical Power Station Borzesti and the Enterprise for Chemical Equipment Onesti.
The first product manufactured at the Chemical Works Borzesti was Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide) - with large applications in the petrochemical industry, soaps and detergents, alumina manufacturing and other industrial branches.
The Chlorine resulted from the electrolytic process (as well as Sodium Hydroxide) was the starting point for a large number of consuming plants, which enriched the offer addressed to the industrial users from Romania and abroad. Thus, between 1960-1970 there started working the plants producing Methylene Chloride, PVC - Emulsion and Suspension, PVC Chlorurated, Trichloroethylene, Monochloroacetic Acid, 2,4 D Acid based herbicides, Acetylene (the carbide process)
