- The first Chalet Ski Shop opened in 1973 when the sport of skiing was more a hobby than a business. In the early years our shop was a fraternity of friends and customers who worked together, skied together and shared the same passion for winter sports. By 1983 our company had grown into a full-time, year round business and moved to Madison, Wisconsin with an expanded store that includes outdoor furniture during the summer season. In 1996 we expanded again to our huge flagship store on Verona Road.
