Description
Martyne S. (Sue) Bachmen of CHALKERS.COM has been buying, selling, and collecting cues for the past 15 years. She served as M.C. for the 1999 Gallery of American Cue Art showcase in New York, and was one of the collectors invited to exhibit at both the 2002 International Cue Collectors Show in Ruidoso, New Mexico, and at the 2004 ICCS in Park City, Utah.
Martyne has been an active participant in the billiard industry for since 1990. She was the co-founder and managing partner of Chalkers, the first upscale billiard room on the West Coast, from 1990 to 2002, and is currently a partner in CHALKERS.COM, an on-line retailer specializing in custom and collectible cues.
Over the past twelve years Martyne has written scores of articles for Billiards Digest on business and cue-related topics. Among her stories this past year is Great Innovations in Cuemaking (April, 2005 issue). Martyne regularly tours the U.S., documenting major cue exhibitions and photographing cues from the top collections. With her partner, Hugh Tiernan, she photographed over 800 new cues for the Blue Book of Pool Cues, Third Edition (scheduled for release in late 2005). Her current project is Cue Art, a 240 page coffee table-style book that will be published by Schiffer this November.
