Everyone moves house at some time. And if, months after your new move, mail still comes through the letterbox that isn't for you, then you know that somewhere, for someone, there's been a breakdown in communication. Whether it be official mail, personal letters, magazines or newsletters, mail is important and we all like it (unless it's a bill) and we all hate to think we've not received it when we should have.
It was this mass of misdirected mail that got us thinking. What was the intended recipient missing out on? Who are the senders and how much do they mind that their mail never got to its destination? Such questions begged a solution which has since taken shape as ChangeMyAddress.
The harsh fact is: giving your change of address to organisations and friends is a hassle. It's a mission in its own right. And the last thing you need with the trauma of moving home is another job to do. Most people manage to change addresses for their phone, gas and electricity bills (because it costs if you don't). The rest is left to chance, such as when you pick up mail if you're passing your old place or tell friends of your new address in a passing conversation.
