Channel m began broadcasting on 14th February 2000. It is a dedicated service broadcasting throughout Greater Manchester. From November 2003 the channel was awarded a restricted service licence (RSL), to broadcast free-to-air on existing television aerials on channel 39 and subsequently has moved on to Virgin media digital cable network on channel 878 and Sky 203.
