The Chapel Hill Independent School District is located in the eastern part of Smith County, Texas. The district covers 118 square miles and includes a small portion of the city of Tyler, the University of Texas at Tyler, the Jackson community and the city of New Chapel Hill. The district is rated as AAA by the University Interscholastic League. The district was established in the 1950-51 school year and had 12 seniors in the 1951 graduating class.
