About Chef's Choice Foods
The history of Chef's Choice is dated back to the late 1920s when a Chinese couple, Mr and Mrs Pua first started their business as coconut traders along the Chaopraya River in Bangkok. The shop was named after Mr Pua as "Pua Seng Heng". Located in Tah Tien, they were well known as the pioneer trader of whole coconuts receiving coconuts from the South of Thailand and sending them out all over the country.
It was not until the early 1970s when Mr Pua's son decided to take the next step and manufacture coconut milk. The aim was to make a coconut milk that tasted like the freshly squeezed coconut milk, and could also be stored for a reasonable period of time. It was not an easy task as the population, at the time, all made their own coconut milk fresh at home. These freshly squeezed coconut milk were for immediate use and could not be kept for a very long time. After many studies, attempts and trials to find the best recipe, Pua Seng Heng started selling their coconut milk locally. Within a year, it was found that the Chef's Choice coconut milk, the brand used for exporting, was very well received and that there was a strong demand from all parts of the world, especially in countries where coconut was not readily available.
It was not long before Pua Seng Heng had to expand their production capacity to meet the global demands. It was decided that they would have to move from Tah Tien and the city area for more space. In 1978, the company moved into the newly built factory in Nonthaburi. The factory was named Chef's Choice Foods, after their best selling coconut milk. move away from the crowded area in Tah Tien
