Today, more communities in Connecticut have a unique opportunity to benefit from this spirit of giving and our schools, our health and social services and our artistic institutions all now have the potential to do even more. That is because of the expanded reach and resources of The NewAlliance Foundation, formerly The New Haven Savings Bank Foundation.
At the time of its conversion from a mutual to publicly held corporation and at the same time New Haven Savings Bank acquired Savings Bank of Manchester and Tolland Bank to become NewAlliance Bank, an additional $40 million in assets was added to our Foundation. This addition more than quadrupled its assets to $49 million, making it one of the largest private foundations in the State of Connecticut.
The mission of the NewAlliance Foundation is to provide financial support to not-for-profit organizations, funding agencies and local communities, particularly in the areas where NewAlliance Bank conducts business. The Foundation seeks to enhance the economic vitality of the region and to improve the quality of life for residents of Connecticut.
