Charley Trujillo introduced me to Oscar when I was 19. Back in those days, I was an ambitious college student taking my first Chicano Studies class (Chicano Literature to be exact), and Oscar was a fat, ugly, self-destructive Chicano Lawyer full of rage with a Pancho Villa complex, and like the bison of North America, he too was on the verge of extinction– he was the “Brown Buffalo.” I had never met anyone like him before. He was so (seemingly) proud to be angry at Los Gringos.
