Dr. Charlotte M. Hendricks, a Certified Health Education Specialist, earned her doctoral degree from Indiana University in 1982. She has over 20 years experience in early childhood health education and research through the Head Start Program, Healthy Child Care Alabama, health departments, university settings, foundations and professional organizations, and grant projects.
She is nationally recognized as a leader in health and safety education for childcare and preschool, and received the "Distinguished Service Award" of the American School Health Association in 2000.
Dr. Hendricks has written four health curriculums for the preschool and early elementary grades, series health information materials for parents, book chapters for the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the American School Health Association, and over 25 articles in national refereed journals. She is President of Healthy Childcare Consultants, Inc., Editor for Healthy CHILDCare Magazine, and Project Director for the Sun Safety Alliance SunSafe Childcare Project. She has served as a Health Consultant for the Region IV Head Start Quality Improvement Center and has presented to audiences locally, nationally, and internationally, as an advocate for the health and safety of young children.
