Choosing a Child Care Center Can Be One of The Most Important Decisions A Parent Can Make. I Have Children Of My Own, And I Was In The Child Care Business For More Than 10 Years.
I started in the business by answering an ad for a babysitter in 1987. The parents wanted someone to come to their home every day and watch their 12 month old son. My daughter was also 12 months old, and I hated leaving her in daycare. So after interviewing with the couple and being offered the position, I quit my office job and started down the road to my future in child care.
After about 6 months, I decided that I loved being with the children more than I thought I would and I applied for my In-Home License. The couple I was babysitting for were happy to now start bringing their son to me every day, because I had other children to watch. I lived in a single wide mobile home in a 'not-so-nice' trailer park, but I created a loving professional child care environment with what I had. I attended the required Child Care courses at a local community college during nap - and hired a good friend to watch the kids while I was gone. I soon was full with a waiting list.
