I live in Westward Ho! and am a full time Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). I am Approved by the Governments Driving Standards Agency (DSA).
To be approved you need to complete a set training programme and be successful with the final examinations. A process that took over 12 months to complete. Also experience in driving is a big help! I have lots of that, I hold just about every type of licence there is - Heavy Goods, Car, Motorbike, Tracked Vehicles, Forklift and some other more obscure ones!
They say that a good ADI needs to be patient, courteous and have nerves of steel. This is quite true. My teaching style is very laid back. I see no point in overloading people with information as it simply does not get retained. Therefore I introduce new subjects when the student is ready. Progress with some students is quicker than others, so the teaching is individually tailored to your ability.
