Our initial dream was to open a Christmas gift shop in our small New England town. My parents were artists, I had taken up wood carving and my fiance was finishing up art school. We were going to make different things that we could sell in our shop. Well, after a few successful craft shows, that should have inspired us, the dream sort-of fizzled. Life and full-time jobs got in the way, and the time just wasn't there.

We got married and a few years later bought a house, with the intention of making the shed and barn into the gift shop. As I started to fix up the shed, I soon realized that the money needed to get things going just was more thn expected, not to mention there wasn't much time to carve and make products to sell.

Then the internet came along. Suddenly I realized the potential market. In our town we would be lucky if we got a handful of customers a day. So we created a small web site to test the waters. We started with my Christmas carvings and some Christmas lights, and boom! The first fall we were generating huge traffic, or so I thought. We were getting 50 - 100 hits a day. Well that's small potatoes on the web, but still, I was impressed that we were being found.
