Christopher Ward London Ltd

Christopher Ward are a small English watchmaker with a simple aim...to put premium quality watches within the reach of everyone. To achieve this they have inverted the business model used by brands such as Breitling, Tag Heuer and Omega. The manufacturing costs of these watches may be similar to those of Christopher Ward but that's where comparisons end.

About Christopher Ward Watches

Christopher Ward's competitors spend millions in the creation of 'brand halos' around their watches through multi-national advertising campaigns, high profile sponsorships and celebrity endorsements. Marketing is an important part of any business, but when the cost of this runs to many times the manufacturing cost of the product, it's consumers who end up paying a small fortune to have some marketing on their wrist that's more expensive than the watch!

Christopher Ward's marketing spend as a percentage of the watch price is a fraction of their competitors. However, they recognise that while it will take them longer to build market share than a business prepared to throw money at marketing, their reputation will be built by customers delighted both with the quality and the value-for-money they offer - and who recommend their watches to family, friends and colleagues.

English Style, Swiss Engineering

Designed with meticulous attention to every detail at their studio in Berkshire, England, it takes thousands of hours to complete the design of every Christopher Ward watch.

But a watch is only as good as the movement at its heart and great movements are among the most intricate and precise pieces of engineering in the modern world. They are works of art in their own right and, without question, the finest movement manufacturers are Swiss.

Christopher Ward only use Swiss made mechanical and quartz movements, including those from some of the finest movement manufacturers, including ETA, who provide mechanical movements, and Ronda who provide many of their quartz movements.

Men's Watches

C5 Malvern Automatic
Launched in June 2005 the C5 Malvern Automatic was the first watch created by Christopher Ward. It received stunning reviews, including one from the influential watch blogger David Malone, on the Timezone Website. He wrote:

This watch is truly exceptional value. It is very appealing; a comfortably large dress watch that feels a little luxurious. Not desperately retro, not a mere copy, but simply a cultivated English design with a style that is carried through to the manual and packaging. It is lowly priced yet beautifully executed. With its three-piece case, slightly curved sapphire, screw-down crown, high quality dial, strap and clasp, and very acceptable ETA movement this watch is a bargain and the fact that Christopher Ward can supply a watch of this quality at this price makes even the ordinary Swiss and German brands look overpriced.

Since then Christopher Ward have launched more men's watches including aviation watches and dive watches

Ladies Watches

The first of Christopher Ward's ladies watches appeared in October 2005. Known as the W1 watch, it is now discontinued and has been replaced by a selection of ladies dress watches, ladies diamond watches and ladies sports watches.
