Title
Christopherus Homeschool Resources - Waldorf-inspired Publishing and Consulting
Description
Christopherus Homeschool Resources was founded in 2003 by Donna Simmons and Paul Newton.
"Our aim is to serve those wishing to create Waldorf-inspired homeschools, as well as those homeschoolers wishing to blend elements of the Waldorf approach into their children's education.
"We feel that Waldorf education is a living, breathing approach to the education of children, based firmly on the teacher's (or parent-teacher's) creativity, resourcefulness, and efforts towards personal growth. The Waldorf curriculum is based on an understanding of child development and is not set in stone. Rather, it is a rich tradition which can be adapted to differing needs.
"We seek to empower parents to work with Waldorf education in a way that suits their particular circumstances and their children's needs."

Additional Information
Donna Simmons is the public face of Christopherus. She writes the books, gives talks and workshops and consults with homeschoolers. She has been a youth worker, Waldorf teacher, parent educator and housemother for developmentally-disabled adults (in a Camphill Community). She is a homeschooling mom.
Donna attended the Rudolf Steiner School in New York City from Kindergarten through 12th Grade. She graduated with a BA from Sarah Lawrence College, where she joyfully studied politics, history, creative writing and child development (which included independent work on Waldorf views of child development). During her junior year she went to England and figured out various ways to stay there for most of the next 15 years.
