Cinema Minima: Personal Digital Cinema. News for movie makers

Description

Jarrod Whaley is a Chattanooga, TN filmmaker who has, to this point, worked primarily with various digital and analog video formats. He has made ten short films, one animated short, and one feature. Unhappy with what he sees as the futility of screening films on the festival circuit, Whaley has focused on creating a more localized and independent distribution model not unlike that of rock bands and other kinds of musical acts. As such, his films have been seen on screens in Chattanooga, in other cities in the Southeast (such as Atlanta and Knoxville), and over the web.

Jarrod Whaley serves on the Board of Directors of the Shaking Ray Levi Society, a Chattanooga-based non-profit dedicated to promoting and promulgating underground work, including (but not limited to) the disciplines of music and cinema. Whaley was also a co-organizer/facilitator for the Micromovie Project, and was for two years the curator of Free Film Club (a now-defunct weekly foreign/arthouse film series). He currently works as a freelance filmmaker, web designer and videographer, as well as teaching video production workshops for agencies such as the federally funded GEAR UP Program (which is housed at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga), the Shaking Ray Levi Society, and UTC’s Division of Continuing Education.
