Description edit

We at Classics Corner have an odd obsession with words written more than 2,000 years ago. We find Homer weirdly fascinating. We think Thucydides is actually interesting, and that Herodotus is about as cool as it gets. We hate Plato's self-satisfied guts, but we can't stop reading him. We love every fart joke Aristophanes ever made. And the list goes on. We know that this isn't normal. We're OK with that.

We, who for purposes of style have decided to refer to ourselves in the first person plural, believe that the classics have great relevance to non-academics such as ourselves. That is why we write what is often referred to as "our stupid little column." Classics Corner has appeared bi-weekly in Seattle's Real Change newspaper for more than two years, and has developed a broad following of fellow freaks that we hereby hope to extend. When we are not reading books that almost no one seems to care about, we work as the Director of Real Change, trying to make things a bit better for the homeless and very poor. This probably accounts for our obsession with class.

We want know to your strange and random thoughts. We want to email you our stupid little column. We want your ideas for things to write and think about. We want to know that we are not alone.
