The Cliveden 'No' Campaign came into being in June 2003, in response to considerable local opposition to the impending planning application for the development of 198 houses at Cliveden by the National Trust.
A packed public meeting in June 2003, organised by Taplow Parish Council, heard strong and unanimous opposition to the proposed application from local residents. It was immediately apparent from the strength of the opposition and from the considerable range of viewpoints that were expressed, that a special committee would need to be formed to coordinate and consolidate these views into an effective action campaign, in order to fight any plans substantiating into bricks and mortar.
