Every year, College Pro recruits and trains hundreds of college students for summer employment as house painters, window technicians and franchise managers. According to the company, “We believe that aspiring student entrepreneurs create a pool of uniquely qualified, ambitious, dedicated candidates for hands-on business training.”
Selecting College Painters College students — current enrollees and recent graduates — can apply online for positions as interior/exterior-painting professionals, window-cleaning technicians and franchise managers. Each summer, College Pro receives an average of 25,000 applications for franchise managers, and approximately 700 entrepreneurs are selected to run their own house-painting/window-cleaning companies. Once an application is submitted, a standard hiring process follows. For franchise managers, an initial evaluation is the first step. Then, select candidates must participate in assessments and interviews, which can include discussions with parents. Final candidates for franchise managers are required to enroll in a Year One Development Plan, which includes planning and training sessions that cover:

Once hired, house-painting/window-cleaning professionals can join The Painter Place, which is a website dedicated to safety, training, scholarships, contests, painter rankings and news.

College Pro insures its residential painting services with a two-year warranty, particularly for peeling or blistering paint, and year-round customer service. While College Pro complies with industry-safety regulations for house-painting and window-cleaning companies, it offers full workers’ compensation and liability insurance. The company’s window-cleaning and house-painting professionals must also participate in in-class and field training, as well as safety tests, to learn on-the-job safety procedures.
