- Collie Dog Owners was founded on February 27, 2002. The cause? Lisa, the site manager, was 19 years old and just experienced the death of her last childhood doggy companion - a smooth collie mix. After a week of searching for another dog, she ran into the most gorgeous sable / white rough collie at an all breed pet rescue in Columbia, South Carolina. That dog was named Rocky - and according to the shelter, came with the other collie onsite...his sable rough sister, Daisy.
