Colonial Harley-Davidson is owned by Guy Bertram and Junie Michael. Guy is in charge of day-to-day operations and is the majority owner. The Bertram/Michael partnership was borne out of the desire to give Harley and Buell customers in the Richmond/Tri-Cities area a choice of where to go for Harley-Davidson Motor Company products. With extensive automotive backgrounds that include many awards for customer satisfaction; Guy and Junie plan to give Richmond area Harley customers the sales, service and ownership experience they looked for but could not find locally.
After several years of planning, Harley gave Bertram and Michael the 'green light' to design and build the most modern and customer-friendly Harley-Davidson dealership in Virginia. In partnership with DesignWorks Studio located in southern California and Freeman-Morgan Architects in Richmond, a 28,000 square foot facility was designed using a modern industrial theme complete with 25 foot ceilings, marble-like floors, extensive use of lighting, and artwork from the Harley-Davidson archives mounted high on the walls.
Of course, only the most modern equipment was used throughout the facility including the 10 double-lift service bays, a complete machine shop and a dedicated room for the state-of-the-art dynamometer.
