News

March, 2005: I decided to retire my old faithful 'Fellini and Corman' system and go with the tried-and-true star system, which I used when I was at the San Francisco Examiner. It just seems a little more functional and serious.

January, 2005: I finally joined the ranks of all-region DVD watchers, thanks to a spiffy new DVD player my brother got me for Christmas. Also, thanks to Xploited Cinema, Combustible Celluloid will begin featuring -- when applicable -- reviews of imported DVDs. These will be movies that are either unavailable in the United States or are available only in abridged or simplified versions. The first of these reviews are: Chimes at Midnight, Eyes Wide Shut and Malena. Keep your eyes peeled for reviews of Dogville, Forty Guns, A Matter of Life and Death and Werckmeister Harmonies, with more on the horizon.
