Title

Common Patriot: The American Revolutionary War Magazine

Description

Back in 1994, T.M. Jacobs went in search for a book that contained the history of a small opera house in East Haddam, Connecticut. When he discovered that no such book existed, he spent two years conducting research and wrote Goodspeed's Folly: The Life of William Henry Goodspeed and his Opera House, a book about the building that had intrigued him.

Around 1998, Jacobs discovered that his ancestor, Ezekiel Jacobs had served in the Revolutionary War. After writing to the archives in Washington, DC., he received a fifteen page document of Ezekiel's deposition. After Jacobs, along with his father and grandfather transcribed the document, he became hooked on learning more about Ezekiel and the Revolutionary War.

Now comes 2004, Jacobs was in search of a monthly (or bi-monthly) publication in regards to the history of the American Revolutionary War. He discovered only four publications that came close. American Spirit, SAR Magazine, both are great publications but are slanted more toward living members and the happenings of their various chapters; Pine Tree Shilling another great publication dedicated to Colonial life in early America and only a few articles pertaining to the war and American History, a fine publication concerning what the title suggests, American History, but again only a few articles related to the war.
