- I was born in 1956 and grew up in LA during the rise of rock and roll, the crossover of soul and rhythm and blues at Woodstock, and the influence of the Motown sound. I learned street dancing from girls at my school when I was in junior high. I also studied music, singing in choirs and taking piano and guitar lessons.
