- My Dad was one of these people that was going to get a $5.00 per month per phone charge add to his bill if he didn't get a new phone and/or contract. We went to the Cingular store to find him a new phone, the best they could do was a phone $9.99 if he signed up for a two year contract. This is pretty bad since he had been a customer since the mid 1980's. We shopped around town; we found some free phones, but really didn't find the right deal or phone for him. We ended up getting two new camera phones and service. Best part was he got $150.00 in rebates ($75.00 X 2) and his monthly service charge went from $70.00 tax to $50.00 tax!!
