Congregational United Church of Christ is now in its second century of Christian service. It was founded in 1900 as part of the old Christian Church, which dates back to 1794. Its organizational meeting was held on June 3, 1900. By the end of that year, it had a membership of 27 and was holding services in the building of the Greensboro Meeting of Friends (Quakers) at 115 East Lee Street. Its first building, completed and occupied in early 1903, was at the corner of Walker and Eugene streets.
