National Certification

Connections Academy is the first national K–12 virtual public school provider to be recognized by the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA). CITA is the most rapidly growing educational accreditation agency in the world. To receive CITA accreditation, Connections Academy was required to meet twelve established standards of distance education including educational program offerings, student services, and staff.

History

In Spring 2001, Sylvan Ventures started a separate business unit to create a turnkey virtual school program based on a commitment to the highest educational standards, with full accountability. The company began operations of its first schools in two states in the Fall of 2002. In September of 2004, Connections Academy was sold to an investor group led by Apollo Management, L.P. The company now operates schools under management contracts from charter schools or school districts in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. read more
