Title

Conservation Council of New Brunswick

Description

Thanks to the direct efforts of the Conservation Council, the provincial government formed the Environment Department in 1971. Our actions also lead to the creation of the Endangered Species Act, Pesticide Control Act, Clean Air Act, Safe Drinking Water Act and many more environmental laws and initiatives. We also campaigned to stop the building of a second nuclear power plant, opposed the spruce bud worm spray program and supported deposits on beverage containers. In 1990 we were added to the United Nations Environmental Programme Roll of Honour.

The Conservation Council's campaigns to protect our air, land and water are run by a small, dedicated staff. As a registered charity, we depend on our members to give us the independence we need to speak out credibly and effectively on behalf of the environment.
