The Economic Times reports that Nortel India Vice President Rajan Mehta is quitting his job to start a media company. It doesn’t have the details of his venture. Mehta, however, will be continue to be on the board of Nortel. He was tipped to be the MD of the company in India. Since Mehta has been working in the telecom networks space, I am making an intelligent guess. It may be a mobile content company he is planning to start. Mehta is in the process of funding his venture with the help of VC firms, the report says. We will try to get more details from Mehta on his plans.

The Economic Times: Media house Bennett Coleman and Company has bought a stake in Chennai-based digital cinema chain Pyramid Saimira Theatre (PSTL). It plans to “consolidate last-mile-delivery platform for films” using new technologies like digital delivery. BCCL is the publishers of The Times of India and The Economic Times. The financial terms are not disclosed. PSTL has filed its draft IPO prospectus with market regulator SEBI. BCCL has a private treaty division which picks up stakes in companies in return for branding and advertising solutions.
