Crabtree Farms
edit Description
Covering 22 acres, the Project includes an on-site Community Garden and Urban Farm. Programming at Crabtree Farms features the Preserving TraditionsWorkshop Series and a weekly on-site Farm Stand. Crabtree Farms is located in the Clifton Hills neighborhood near downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee.
In 1998 Will and McNair Bailey started Crabtree Farms of Chattanooga Inc. The Farm property has been in agricultural use since the early 1800s. In 1997 the 22 acre property was donated to the City of Chattanooga by the Crabtree and McGauley families with coordination assistance by Bobby Davenport of The Trust for Public Land. A stipulation of the donation is that the property must retain its agriculture heritage. The City leases the land to Crabtree Farms for $1 per year.
