As we approach our 60th anniversary, the basic premise of our existence hasn't changed significantly—informing donors and creating opportunities to improve philanthropic possibilities.
This was truly a year of change for the Charities Review Council. In response to information provided by the public, the nonprofit community, and our 2004 feasibility study, the Council has moved to greatly expand the services it provides in both scope and quality.We have created a new system of reviewing organizations, created a new donor-friendly website, and redoubled our efforts to encourage youth philanthropy; all while continuing the work we have done since 1946-educating donors and the nonprofit community about nonprofit accountability and transparency.
The Council's mission is simple: to provide tools for donors to make informed giving decisions that help build a stronger nonprofit sector.
