About Robert Oates - Author of Permanent Peace
Robert Oates is the author of a dozen books and has lectured on four continents. After graduating from the University of Southern California summa cum laude, number one in his class, Mr. Oates earned an M.A. in American history from the University of California at Los Angeles. While studying for his Master's, he learned the Transcendental Meditation technique and his education turned to the field of consciousness and human enlightenment – including years of study with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. In the past decade he has worked with the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, under the direction of Harvard-trained physicist John Hagelin, as a policy fellow specializing in health care, campaign finance reform and conflict resolution. Earlier in his career, Mr. Oates played ten years as a semi-pro quarterback and was inducted into the Semi-Professional Football Hall of Fame.
