Berk Lombardo Packing Co., Inc. (BLP), the parent company of Creativefood.net, has been in the wholesale meat business for over thirty years. While BLP cuts meat for many of the supermarkets, restaurants, and institutions in the New York Metropolitan area, most of the final consumers of our products don't know who we are. This is because our products are delivered to the supermarkets, restaurants, etc. via other wholesalers/distributors -- middlemen. In 2004, BLP decided it was time to rectify this situation. Thus, the genesis of Creativefood.net. Now, people can have our fine cuts of beef, pork, and poultry delivered directly from our butchers' tables to their homes.
With BLP, there is a high degree of vertical integration. All of our products are cut and packaged by us. We purchase our raw materials directly from the farm and, other than the physical delivery of the order to our customers' homes, all other aspects of the ordering process are performed by us. Because of this, we can ensure that:
our products are vacuum-packed and frozen solid within a half-hour of being cut. This preempts the growth of any bacteria and locks in both the taste and freshness.
