Charles L. Webster is President of Charles L. Webster & Associates, Inc., a crisis management firm formed in 1992 to assist business and government in planning for and responding to major unplanned incidents. The firm focuses on strategic plan development, external issue management, crisis media training, response mobilization, field organizational structure, and development/conduct of crisis training exercises.

Prior to forming Charles L. Webster & Associates, Inc., Mr. Webster served as Director of Emergency Preparedness for BP America. He remains a consultant to BP and is a member of the BP Exploration Alaska Response Team, advising company officials regarding the public consequences of response options. During actual crisis events covering two decades, Mr. Webster has served as external affairs chief, assessing and managing public outrage, external exposures including media relations, government relations, community relations and overall public perception.

Mr. Webster has responded to more than 15 major crisis incidents including murders, casualty explosions and a major air pollution incident inundating residential communities. He has also handled the crisis communications aspects of major environmental incidents on the East and West coasts of the United States, Prince William Sound and the Lower Cook Inlet in Alaska, British Columbia, and to inland spills including a major river spill in Wyoming. Mr. Webster has conducted training, exercises, workshops and seminars in the Continental United States, Alaska, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Colombia, Hawaii, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, among others.
