Crosby URC
edit Description
Crosby Congregational Church was formed in 1885 to serve the growing population of Blundellsands and Great Crosby. Plans were drawn up for a church building and schoolrooms but due to financial constraints only the schoolroom, the present hall, was furnished as a church with seating for 300 people. Over the next 10 years the church grew and, when congregations of between 200 and 300 were the norm, it was decided that it was time to build what is now the present church.
The foundation stone was laid on 22nd May 1897 by Mr A Brown Paton, a member of the church, and the first service in the church's new home was held on 15th September 1898.
We baptise both children and adults as a means of entry into both the wider universal church and the local congregation.
