The Children's Theatre Company of Sioux Falls was started in 2001 by Artistic Director and Founder, Nancy Halverson. The company is pleased to be in partnership with Augustana College. Since our humble beginnings, the company has performed for well over 80,000 South Dakota, Minnesota and Nebraska young people and their families.
Nancy has recently joined the Sioux Falls community following appointments as a professor of Theatre for Young Audiences at the University of Illinois and Florida State University. She is currently an adjunct professor of Theatre at Augustana College and serves on the executive board of the Washington Pavilion and the International Association of Theatre for Young Audiences (ASSITEJ). Her background includes performing in national and international tours, directing productions for a variety of companies, and working on the creation of new plays for young audiences. Nancy received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre for Young Audiences from Arizona State University and is the author of three theatre textbooks.
Vicki has been involved in business her entire adult life--as a manager, entrepreneur, and consultant. She is also enthusiastic about theatre and the benefits the arts bring to individuals. Born and raised in Sioux Falls, Vicki graduated from Augustana College with a business major and did graduate work at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has served on several non-profit boards including the South Dakota Symphony and South Dakota Hall of Fame. Vicki is also an active volunteer and mentor at Children's Home Society. Vicki believes that young people's lives can be positively impacted by exposure and participation in performing arts.
