Beginning in late 2009, demand for a new type of property rental agency was reaching new heights and was soon too strong to ignore. Many renters, both Ecuadorian and Foreign, were looking for a professional, competent, and full time rental company. Cuenca Condos was founded to help individuals who share these desires find the quality rentals they need at great prices.

Throughout history there have been people have who set out from their homes to find a new life for themselves and their families. The pioneers had different motivations for leaving, and different dreams for their lives in the new lands to which they traveled.
The Pilgrims set out from the British Empire in search of a land where they would be free to live and practice the religion of their choice free from from persecution by the British government and the Church of England. The Pilgrims were steeled in their beliefs and knew that they could have the life they deserved in what, at the time, was the New World.
During the California Gold Rush in 1848 settlers from the eastern United States faced a long and difficult journey through lands that were largely unexplored. These people had in their hearts a dream of economic prosperity. They were leaving their homes in the east in order to explore the pristine wilderness of the American West and to achieve a life that was no longer possible for them in the place where they were born.
Furthermore, explorers like Magellan, inspired by an adventurous spirit and determination to succeed, completed unheard of feats of bravery and navigation. Magellan left Spain in 1519 with the goal of realizing the seemingly impossible dream of leading the first expedition to circumnavigate the world. Upon the return of Magellan's expedition in 1525, the voyagers had seen more of the planet than any other humans in history. Even today, it is difficult to overstate the wonders that exist throughout the world, and there are those, like Magellan, who seek adventure and new experiences.
In the last several years the expatriate or "expat" population in Cuenca has been exploding and our community has been developing. Recent arrivals have started a plethora of businesses which have seized on the opportunities offered by the local economy and are also providing our community with very valuable products and services. Our community exists here because, like the adventurers before us, we are looking for freedom, economic prosperity, and adventure.
Our community consists of people from diverse backgrounds who have set out in the spirit of adventure to find something better than what their home countries have to offer. Many have chosen to retire here in Cuenca while others have created businesses that are now allowing them to prosper. Most of us became a part of this community when we rented or purchased a new home after first coming for an initial visit to see for ourselves what Cuenca has to offer.
Many of the people who have chosen to stay here have found Cuenca to be an unique and beautiful city. They have enjoyed exploring the many parks and nature reserves located near the city, and have embraced the open and friendly local culture. The expats that have been inspired to call Cuenca home have realized the wealth of social and economic prosperity available to those with the determination to seize it.
Cuenca Condos is deeply involved in the community here in Cuenca, Ecuador. We both know and work with many local businesses and business owners. We have developed many friendships and partnerships with expats and Ecuadorians alike and we are very active in Cuenca's social circles. Many of us have been able to cut our expenditures while maintaining the lifestyle to which we are accustomed. The consensus among those of us who have previously lived in the United States is that the cost of living here is about 50% of what it is in the US. Some things cost a little bit more but most things will cost you a whole lot less. Those of us who have chosen not to reduce our monthly budget, have obtained a standard of living much higher than we ever would have imagined was possible in our home countries.
