Chesterfield Women's Soccer Association
Description
At present the Chesterfield Women's Soccer Association (CWSA) consists of 19 teams in two age divisions. Some of the teams are premier and some are recreational. Each team carries a roster of anywhere from 16 - 21 players. The league is a member of the United States Amateur Soccer Association (USASA) through its membership in the Metropolitan DC-Virginia Soccer Association (MDCVSA).
Games are played on Sundays in the Spring and Fall at Manchester Middle School on Hull Street Road (map) and A.M. Davis Elementary in Richmond for the 18+ division and at AM Davis Elementary School off of Providence Road for the 30+ division. The regular Spring season generally commences in mid-March and runs through the weekend before Memorial Day. After the holiday a season ending tournament is held on the first two weekends in June. We generally have a fun filled (if somewhat soggy) league party during the tournament. In the fall, the season commences the first week of September and concludes before Thanksgiving. There is usually a fall tournament as well. During both seasons we have an all star night in order to showcase the talent within the league. Many teams (or players) continue to play together during the summer and fall co-ed seasons. Indoor soccer commences in January (through a different organizing bodies).
Participation in the league is open to all women who are 18 or older by the time of the first game. While you must be 30 to play in the over 30 division many women 30 and older continue to play in the 18+ division well into their 40's. We even have some women that opt to play in both divisions simultaneously. Players are placed on teams and efforts are made to accommodate team preferences. However, this has never been guaranteed.
