Czech and Slovak Society of Indiana - C&S Society News

"Czechoslovakia Society Of Indianapolis" became a member of the "International Center Of Indianapolis Inc." in 1983 and participated in their "International Festival" that year. From a roster of known Czechoslovakian families in Central Indiana, George and Susan Tintera graciously started hosting fellowship meetings in their home and did so for several years.
The Society began to grow, so a President and a Treasurer were established along with a family dues to cover expenses. Around this time, several families were arriving from Czechoslovakia, so the Society was very happy to welcome them to the United States. Along with the fellowship meetings, in June of 1985, an annual picnic began. Presently the Society sponsors a summer picnic and a December dinner meeting. In March of 1990, the name "Czechoslovak Society of Indiana (USA)" appeared.
The name of the organization now is "The Czech and Slovak Society Of Indiana" and was established in 1993. The Society has had great fellowship meetings and activities under several dedicated officers in the past and is looking forward to a great future.
