Description

Danansooz are a brother and sister duo from the village of Harbury in Warwickshire. (Dan (23) on vocals and guitar and Susie (20) on vocals and penny whistle). The pair's interest in folk music stems primarily from their exposure to it, at a tender age by their Morris dancer parents Pete and Liz (members of the mixed Cotsworld side, Hereburgh Morris). Dan and Susie were taken to many festivals where they were given the opportunity to listen to fantastic live music groups such as Clannad, Altan, Battlefield Band and the Doonans, thus enabling them to develop an appreciation for the genre of music that is British Folk.

After attending a summer folk music workshop in 1991 (lead by Anna Ryder and Keith Donnelly they began attending the newly formed Harbury Junior Folk Club, here they were first given the chance to perform as a duo in front of a live audience of peers and parents. After getting a little old for the junior folk club the pair began attending the Harbury Folk Club where they have performed regularly for the last 2 years enabling the development of a repertoire of traditional songs and ballads with original arrangements and a selection of lively Irish and Scottish reels on the penny whistle accompanied by the guitar.

Danansooz warmly welcome any opportunity to perform and so were delighted at being asked to support Eliza Carthy at a concert in the Bridgehouse theatre on the 5th Novmeber 2003, and to be invited to perform at both Warwick and Bromyard folk festivals in 2004 and 2005, as well as taking part in the Danny Kyle open mike concert at Celtic Connections earlier in 2004.
