Since 1994, DART First State on the Internet has been made possible through a joint effort between DART First State and Delaware Technical & Community College.
History
In early 1994, a frequent DART rider and computer guru, Ken Weaverling, thought it would be neat if DART had bus schedules on this then-new thing called the World Wide Web. While the Internet had been around for a while at this point, the web was barely a year old and web sites were far and few between.
After getting permission from his employer, Ken contacted DART to see if he could get the schedules on disk for placement on the web page. Remarkably, the scheduling person at the time, Stephen Welch, had heard of the web and thought it would be a great idea. Stephen even remarked how that some day, it would be nice to be able to post alerts and news to the web site so employees could check for "alerts" before heading home.
