- and although there were several OCR, imaging, coding, and document management packages available on the market, no single company provided an acceptable solution to a growing Service Bureau with a primary goal of providing the best work possible in the least amount of time. There were a variety of products to choose from, each capable of performing certain functions, yet all required batch processing and/or moving from one product to another just to perform the desired tasks. Not only were these cumbersome exercises, but the cost to purchase a variety of software programs with the appropriate number of licenses was high. Even with the diversity of programs available, there still were certain operations that these packages could not perform. Further, due to their inherent complexities, most demanded the involvement of an engineer or a programmer to run the software.
