Geography of Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach is located just 54 miles from Orlando on Florida's Central East Coast region. The city spans 23 miles of sparkling white sandy beaches and beautiful blue-green water along the Atlantic Coast and is the most-well known city within Volusia county. The beach is up to 500 feet wide at low tide and is perfect for castle building, cycling, jogging, fishing or just relaxing in the sun. Other cities and towns in the Daytona Beach area include Ormond Beach, Ormond By-The-Sea, South Daytona, Daytona BeachShores, Holly Hill,Wilbur By-The-Sea and Ponce Inlet. There are three major rivers in the area: the St. Johns River, the Tomoka River, and the Halifax River, also known as the Intracoastal Waterway.
